50 Photorealistic Prompt Templates (Copy/Paste) + Negative Checklist

Photorealistic images are where AI exposes you. You can write “photoreal, 8k” and still get plastic skin, dead eyes, and CGI lighting. I used to blame the model. The real issue was my prompts: I wasn’t telling the model how the photo was taken and what it must avoid.

So I built a small library of photorealistic prompt templates that read like a real production brief. The goal is not “one perfect prompt”. The goal is a repeatable structure you can reuse for 50 different shots.

The rule that fixes 80% of photoreal prompts

Always include camera + lighting + constraints. If you skip those, the model improvises (and you get the classic AI look).

Before / After (why your “photoreal” prompt fails)

Bad prompt (vibes):

photorealistic portrait, cinematic, 8k

This tells the model nothing about lens, light, or texture. It will default to “beauty filter CGI”.

Good prompt (brief):

Photoreal portrait of a woman, 28, natural freckles, brown eyes

Baseline template (use this for everything)

This is the template I reuse. The trick is what you change vs what you keep fixed:

• Change: subject OR setting (one at a time)
• Keep fixed: camera/lens look + lighting + constraints (until it works)

Keep this as your default negative prompt. Add extra lines only when a problem repeats.
